Andy Lydyard - Chief Executive Officer

Mr Lydyard was appointed as President and CEO of Comet Ridge Resources, LLC in July of 2008.

Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Lydyard has served for four and half years as Managing Director of Comet Ridge Limited (ASX Code: COI), a publicly traded Australian oil and gas exploration company that he was instrumental in forming and listing on the Australian Stock Exchange. He relocated to Denver in late 2005 to build a US focused E&P business for Comet Ridge Limited and has assembled a highly experienced and accomplished management team around him.

Mr. Lydyard is a geologist and his career spans 30 years split evenly between North America and Australia. Prior to moving to Australia to join Strike Oil Limited in Perth, Western Australia, he filled a number of technical and managerial roles for J.M. Huber Corporation, culminating with the leadership of the highly successful Coal Seam Gas Business Unit based in Denver.


Randy Spaur - Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Spaur joined Comet Ridge USA in September 2008. With over 31 years experience in the Oil and Gas Industry, he has held senior level and executive management positions with major companies, large independents and startup energy companies. He has extensive experience as both a CFO and CEO in all facets of the oil and gas industry including exploration and production, oilfield services, mergers and acquisitions, strategy and planning, and investor relations.

Over the past fifteen years Mr. Spaur has demonstrated a successful track record for building startup energy companies into successful candidates for sale, merger or eventual IPO candidates. During his tenures with Vermilion Exploration Inc., First Energy Services Co., First Reserve Oil and Gas Co. and Colt Resources Corporation he had strategic involvement in building successful exploration, production and field operations with activity in the Rocky Mountain, Mid-Continent, Texas and offshore regions of the U.S. He started his career in the financial analysis department of Mobil Oil Corporation and gained international experience with The Anschutz Corporation.

Mr. Spaur holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Regis University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Northern Colorado.


Pat Jackson - Vice President of Exploration

Mr. Jackson comes with over 34 years of oil and gas experience as a geologist, manager and businessman.  After receiving degrees in Geology from University of Montana and Oregon State University, Mr. Jackson held a variety of geological and managerial positions with Amoco.  As a geologist, he was a principle player in the initiation and development of Amoco's Raton Basin CBM and Arkoma Thrustbelt efforts.  As a Manager, he led a variety of different Exploration groups with responsibilities that covered most of the Onshore US.

During the last few years of his time with Amoco, he was part of a small leadership team that analyzed the geotechnical risks and reserves for all of Amoco's worldwide exploration prospects.  Although most of his experience has been in the US, he has worked plays and prospect in the following countries: USA, Canada, UK, Norway, Belgium, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Algeria, Egypt,   Nigeria, Angola,  Trinidad, Columbia, Venezuela,  Brazil,  & Bolivia.  Upon leaving Amoco/BP, he joined Basin Exploration in Denver and assisted in the sale of that company to Stone Energy in Lafayette, LA. 

During his two year tenure at Stone, he managed the Denver office where his team captured drilling deals in Pinedale and Jonah.  During that time Stone's Denver District doubled production while at the same time reduced the number of wells in half.   For the last two years, prior to joining Comet Ridge this summer, Mr. Jackson started and has been building his own consulting/prospect generating business.  Throughout his career he has been successful at opening new exploration plays and opportunities.  He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in oil and gas exploration. 


Kenneth Appis - Vice President of Land and Business Development

Mr. Appis has over 35 years of oil & gas experience in all facets of the Land Department. As Director - Land & Business Development for Comet Ridge Resources, LLC he leads a team of Land professionals that work efficiently and effectively to accomplish the goals of the company. Mr. Appis received his BBA in Petroleum Land Management (1976) from the University of Oklahoma and is currently an RPL (Registered Professional Landman) with the American Association of Petroleum Landman.
 
Prior to Comet Ridge, Mr. Appis has been involved in over $1 Billion of acquisition and divestiture projects and has held Land Manager positions with public companies; Enserch Exploration, Inc.(Dallas, TX), Berry Petroleum Company (Denver, CO, as well as privately held Independents; J.M. Huber Corporation, Rock Oil Corp. and the Beren family companies in Denver, CO.


Jim Knox - Controller

Mr. Knox has extensive oil and gas accounting and financial management experience built up over his 20 year career. Prior to joining Comet Ridge, he was at Forest Oil Corporation, one of the top ten independent oil and gas companies in the United States. At Forest Oil, Mr. Knox worked in a number of capacities, most recently as the assistant controller for the Gulf Coast Offshore and Southern USA Business Units.

Mr. Knox also spent eight years in the financial reporting group, ultimately becoming the financial reporting manager, whose primary responsibility was filing financial statements with the Securities and Exchange Commission as well as supporting senior management with debt and equity offerings. Mr. Knox also has experience in the downstream segment of the energy business, working on gas processing and oil pipeline projects, as well as independent power generation projects.


John McCarthy - VP Operations

Mr. McCarthy has over 28 years experience in the Oil & Gas Industry. He has been employed by majors, large and small independents and several start-up companies including Conoco, Texaco, OXY, Santa Fe Energy and Venoco. He has diversified experience including engineering and operations management roles working in shallow, deep, heavy & light oil, gas, onshore and offshore fields including waterfloods, firefloods and steamfloods in Wyoming, Texas & California. Areas of significant experience include environmental & safety, well stimulations, completions, horizontal drilling, development of naturally fractured reservoirs, and artificial lift design and failure reduction. He has been directly involved in improving the environmental condition of fields he managed and received numerous regulatory awards associated with these improvements. 

Mr. McCarthy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and is a registered Professional Engineer.

John Deckert - Director of Reservoir Engineering

Mr. Deckert brings 22 years experience in the energy industry to Comet Ridge Resources.  He has held senior level management and technical positions with major oil and gas companies, small independents, oilfield service companies, and petroleum consulting firms.  Mr. Deckert holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech University and a Master of Business Administration degree from University of Tulsa.  During his tenures with Conoco, Transcontinental Gas Pipeline, Enron, and Halliburton, he held a variety of engineering, finance, and management roles in the areas of exploration and production, operations, business development, and acquisitions and divestitures.  Most recently, Mr. Deckert was a project manager at Norwest Corporation (Questa Engineering) for 5 years providing reservoir engineering services, reserve estimates, and property evaluations to clients throughout the US onshore market including the Rocky Mountain, Permian Basin, and Mid-Continent regions.  He was also the managing partner for a small oil and gas company that made direct investments in existing oil and gas production and developed and funded exploration projects.
